Proposed Federal Functional Classification Change

One roadway has a proposed change to its federal functional classification. The Federal Functional Classification System designates Federal Aid Highways, which are eligible for federal funding. The functional classification should match how the roadway is currently used. Roadways must have a minimum classification of Collector to be eligible for federal funding.

The following information is a summary of the submitted application materials.

The OTO has requested the following change to the federal functional classification system. The application is included.

  1.      Rosedale Road, from Gregg Rd to Main St.

Requested Functional Classification – Major Collector

Reasoning – Rosedale serves as important east/west connection in southern Nixa. It connects two major collectors and a secondary arterial to US 160. Its current classification is inconsistent with its current and future functioning.

Major Thoroughfare Plan – Secondary Arterial

Current Functional Classification – Local
